Incredible India!

So I finally got the time to blog about my long long trip to India
Let me just jump right into the topic since I’m so excited to tell you all about it.India is a lil’ mystical.
It touches you in mysterious ways.
It makes you wanna go back.
It leaves you wondering: Why on Earth do I want to go back to such a country so detestable?
Why do I wanna come back here, so far away from Home?

Is it its simplicity?
The beauty of the country?
The desire to change things there, for the betterment of its people?
The fact that I am, in one way or another, a part of that society?

As crazy as this sounds, India struck a chord.
This wasn’t my first trip there but it was the most mind boggling and intense holiday ever in my 17 years of life.
Seriously..

I guess it drew me closer to the Indian side of me.
It had so much to do with my identity.
The fact that I was Indian and that I had an Indian existence which I probably never felt back home in Singapore.
I’ll go around telling people India is this and India is that and that I’ll never go back until after my kids are born
but I cannot deny the fact that I was drawn to the country and its people.

The colours, the stench(!!), the noise, the beauty, its simplicity, the people.
Everything affected me.

Frankly speaking, I’ll like to go there once again.
With my friends perhaps, not with my parents.
Just so I can discover the place myself.
To see what’s so magical about that place that it engraves itself so deeply into your soul.

We went to Dehli, India’s capital which could do with a little cleaning up to make it look more presentable.
Then we took a 13 hour drive to Amritsar in Punjab, where the Oh, so delicious tandoori chicken is famous.
A 14 hour drive to Kulu Menali, where we experienced snow for the first time.
A 6 hour drive to Shimla which was so picturesque.
A 4 hour drive to the very surprisingly clean city, Chandigarh
Followed by a 8 hour drive to Agra where the Taj Mahal resides, drawing a lot of Ooohs and Ahhs from the 2000 odd visitors it attracts all day
(While we’re on the subject, let me just add that The Taj Mahal, by far is the prettiest form of Art I have seen.
It was the highlight of our trip. I am quite happy we ended off with a bang with the Taj.
Everything from the sheer beauty to the workmanship to the place’s history just leaves your jaw wide open.
Its ironic how the prettiest thing on the face of Earth lies in one of the most polluted and dirtiest country.
Anyway, the place is Fantastic. Let me say that again F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C)
And our final stop was in Jaipur more commonly known as the Pink City, before heading for Dehli again

So basically, we spent half of our time in the bus we hired for the 11 of us.
But honestly, this was a real eye opener.
I was awe-struck..
And that may be the biggest understatement of the year.
Really..
