Ties

She looked at the sole person holding the family together. She was old, quiet and weak in her knees from the arthritis. She had seen a lot in life. As she stared at her, she realised that the familial ties were held loosely in her hand. What would happen with her passing? Would she see some of the people in that room again? Was it just mere pretense? Or was it because we didn’t have anything in common?
